Dr. Wendy Norman

The Society for Family Planning has elected Dr. Wendy Norman as Canada’s first board member, and only the second family physician in their history, in the role of “member-at-large”. It is an exciting time as they enter their second decade and a significant strategic planning process for how to best meet the society’s vision: “A world where all people have optimal reproductive health and rights “.

Local research was also recognized at the SFP meeting in Denver with Best Poster award going to CART and CARE for the study “Immediate vs delayed insertion of intrauterine contraception after second trimester abortion: a Randomized Controlled Trial “. This study showed that immediate IUC insertion reduced unintended pregnancies more than four-fold within a year!
