Congratulations to Dr. Jessica McAlpine on Promotion to Professor

Dr. Jessica McAlpine

The Department would like to congratulate Dr. Jessica McAlpine on her promotion to Professor with Tenure as of 1 July 2020.  Jessica has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to teaching, research and service in order to attain this promotion.

Dr. McAlpine came to UBC in July 2006 having completed her Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Yale University School of Medicine. Prior to this she had done her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University and medical school at Johns Hopkins with some international travel and medical practice intermixed.  For the past decade she has divided her time between surgical practice and translational research. Her success is evident in grant funding received, publications and her extensive collaborations nationally and internationally. She is Director of the Gynecologic Tumor Bank, is on the OVCARE Executive and proud member of the Gynecologic Cancer Initiative. This summer Dr. McAlpine was awarded the Dr. Chew Wei Memorial Chair in Gynaecologic Oncology and appointed Co-Division Head for the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology.

We asked Jessica ‘What does becoming a Professor mean to you?

‘Certainly, I am proud to be part of UBC, our Department, and our Division.  I have no pretentions that any of this could have been achieved without the support from my colleagues who I continue to learn from every day. I am tremendously grateful for the many phenomenal mentors I have here at UBC; both in research, and clinical care. And I feel fortunate to be on a team who take pride providing excellence in patient care and also take joy in life/the journey.‘
