The Gynaecologic Cancer Prevention and Survivorship (GCPS) Clinical Fellowship is seeking applicants for a one-year clinical training position.
This Clinical Fellowship is designed for physicians seeking specialized expertise in both individualized and population-level gynaecologic cancer prevention, as well as comprehensive survivorship care, including the management of complex menopause.
This fellowship provides in-depth exposure to the multidisciplinary care of individuals at increased risk for gynaecologic cancers, with a particular focus on hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes such as BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51C, RAD51D, PALB2, BRIP1 and Lynch syndrome. Fellows will develop knowledge and expertise in genetic cancer risk assessment, surgical risk-reduction planning, surveillance, and personalized counseling. Additionally, the program emphasizes population-based prevention strategies, including opportunities for learning about population-based genetic testing, cervical cancer and endometrial cancer risk assessment, screening and early intervention, as well as opportunistic salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention.
A key component of the fellowship is the development of expertise in gynaecologic cancer survivorship care. Fellows will learn to address the long-term and late effects of cancer treatment, with training in areas such as menopause management, sexual health, fertility preservation, psychosocial support, chronic symptom management, and integrative approaches to wellness.
Fellows will work alongside a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including specialists in gynaecologic oncology, medical genetics, endocrinology, menopause, oncology, nursing, psycho-oncology, and allied health professionals. The program also includes opportunities to participate in clinical population level or patient-facing research, education, and quality improvement initiatives, preparing graduates for leadership roles in gynaecologic cancer prevention and survivorship on both clinical and systemic levels.
