Drs. Lori Brotto and Gillian Hanley were appointed as Associate Co-Head – Research on 15 July 2024.
Dr. Lori Brotto
Dr. Lori Brotto is a Professor in the Department of Ob/Gyn and serves as Associate Head, Research. She is also the Executive Director of the Women’s Health Research Institute. Dr. Brotto is internationally recognized as a leader in sexual health research. She has mentored > 150 trainees and her research evaluates psychological and digital health interventions for sexual dysfunction and genital pain, which collectively impact 1/3 of women. Her work influences practice internationally. She is one of UBC’s most cited scientists, and is listed among the top 2% cited scientists by Stanford/Elsevier (SCOPUS citations).
Dr. Gillian Hanley, PhD
Dr. Lori Brotto is an Associate Professor and the co-Associate head of research for the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. She is a Canada Research Chair in Population-based Gynecologic and Perinatal outcomes, and an international leader in ovarian cancer prevention. Her research combines her training in economics, health services research, and epidemiology to answer questions related to gynecologic cancer, primarily ovarian cancer prevention and survivorship. Her work has been cited in many national and international clinical practice guidelines.
