Yong initially joined UBC in October 2020 and has worked at Campus and Community Planning for one year before joining ObGyn. He is an IT professional with over 25 years’ experience and has solid IT knowledge on network, operating systems, cloud platforms, web, database, and programming.
Outside of work, Yong loves endurance sports such as marathon and ultra-trail running. In the past 10 years he has run over 40 marathons and 15 ultra-trail races, with the longest one being 100 miles!
In September 2020, he organized a small group run on Vancouver streets along a route he designed, mapping out the famous Boston Athletic Association’s (B.A.A.) unicorn emblem during the Boston Marathon Virtual Experience week, which evoked quite a bit of excitement in the runner communities around the world at the time.
