Biography
Michelle Chan completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Alberta in 2018. Thereafter she completed the two-year family planning fellowship at the University of British Columbia with further focus in contraception care for medically complex patients and advanced abortion care. During this time, she also completed a Masters of Health Sciences at UBC. Her fellowship research was a provincial mixed-methods investigation on barriers and facilitators to the more effective oral emergency contraceptive. She previously advised Beyond the Binary: a working group for more inclusive research with the Women’s Health Research Institute. Michelle currently has the privilege of caring for patients with the General Obstetrics and Gynecology department in Burnaby and the CARE team at BCWH.
Areas of Interest in Teaching/Research
Michelle’s research interests include: feminist inquiry, reproductive justice and advocacy.
