The UBC Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology actively participates in a wide range of education programs involving diverse learners from many arenas over several sites.
- In line with the current expansion of the medical school, the undergraduate program is embarking on distributed learning at many levels.
- The postgraduate residency program continues to evolve and recreate itself in response to expansion needs and resident feedback. An increase in the trainee numbers is providing a real opportunity to address the manpower shortage of obstetricians and gynaecologists within the province and across the country. With increased numbers comes a chance to re-evaluate current sites and look to our community partners in order to provide new and exciting opportunities for resident training.
- Subspecialty training within the UBC Department includes two year fellowship programs with a strong clinical base.
- Trainees from BCIT, the UBC Midwifery Program, Family Practice, and Nursing, not to mention elective students in both the undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs from across the county and around the world, contribute to the diversity and richness of our educational programs and the learners they serve.
