We would like to congratulate Dr. Angelsio on his promotion to Associate Professor.
Since 2017, Dr. Anglesio has been a faculty member at UBC, leading a research program on cancers linked to endometriosis, endometriosis itself, and uterine biology. Dr. Anglesio has previously been a Michael Smith Foundation Scholar and Janet D. Cottrelle foundation Scholar. His work has specialized on deriving molecular signatures from small and archival tissue biospecimens and is now expanding to generate models of disease progression. He uses deep sequencing and protein biomarkers to explore the causes and classification of endometriosis-associated cancers, aiding in the development of precision medicine. Prior to his role at UBC, he obtained his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University, followed by a PhD in Pathology at UBC within the Childhood Cancer Research Program, and completed postdoctoral research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. After returning to UBC in 2010, he worked with BC’s Gynecologic Cancer Research Team (OVCARE) before establishing his independent research group. He has mentored over 40 students and has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Anglesio has received multiple awards, including the 2016 Excellence in Mentoring Award from UBC’s Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine, the 2017 Columbia Hospital for Women Research Foundation Prize for most impactful research in breast and gynecological disease, and the 2022 Early Career Researcher Award in Cancer from the CIHR – Institute of Cancer Research. He is currently the NPA on two active CIHR project grants, one NIH R01, and serves as co-PI/co-I on 4 other federally funded projects.
