Biography
Dr. Roxana Geoffrion is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and has a full time practice as a urogynecologist at the Centre for Pelvic Floor at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Dr. Geoffrion completed her medical degree at McGill University and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She then pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) at the University of Calgary. Dr. Geoffrion is the director of the UBC FPMRS Fellowship and a member of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Research Committee. She serves as the current president of the Canadian Society for Pelvic Medicine, the national organization dedicated to pelvic floor health in Canada. In this capacity, she is the lead on a committee dedicated to FPMRS fellowship accreditation as a subspecialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She received numerous awards for teaching and is passionate about surgical mentorship of trainees at all levels.
Areas of Interest in Teaching/Research
Dr Geoffrion’s research interests include surgical education, evidence-based patient education and knowledge translation in the area of pelvic floor health through whiteboard animation (website: www.bepelvichealthaware.ca), as well as surgical outcomes and sexual health of patients with pelvic floor disorders. She recently implemented an evidence-based vaginal surgery training curriculum within the UBC Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. She holds competitive grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Women’s Health Research Institute and Health Research BC.
