Biography
Dr. Andrew Stewart obtained his medical degree from McMaster University and completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. He went on to pursue fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery (MIGS) and endometriosis at the University of Toronto, gaining advanced expertise in complex surgical gynecology.
Since 2010, Dr. Stewart has practiced in Ontario, where he held an academic appointment with McMaster University. He has been actively engaged in resident and medical student education through the Waterloo Regional Campus and was recognized for his commitment to surgical teaching with the John L. Mazurka Surgical Teaching Award.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Stewart has completed leadership training programs in surgical and healthcare leadership through Harvard University and the Rotman School of Management.
Dr. Stewart joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia in July 2025, with clinical appointments at BC Women’s Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital.
Areas of Interest in Teaching/Research
Dr. Stewart is the Associate Program, Postgraduate Residency Program. Dr. Stewart’s clinical interests include complex gynecological surgery and endometriosis, advanced hysteroscopy, and fertility-related gynecological conditions. He also practices general obstetrics and has a particular focus on quality improvement initiatives to enhance care in first-trimester pregnancy.
