We welcome Dr Catherine Allaire as the Head of the Division of Gynaecologic Specialities. Dr Allaire is currently a Clinical Professor in our Department and also the Program Director for the Advanced Training Program in Endometriosis, Pelvic Pain and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery is the Medical Lead of the BC Women’s Centre for Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis.
Dr. Allaire graduated from McGill University medical school, did her specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at UBC and then completed a SRS Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) in Houston, Texas. Dr. Allaire was an early adopter in Canada of minimally invasive surgical (MIS) techniques for the treatment of gynaecologic problems. She has organized and taught numerous MIS courses both nationally and internationally. As a member of the SOGC clinical practice committee, Dr. Allaire has helped create national guidelines on various gynaecologic conditions. Her current clinical and research focus is on the etiology and management of pelvic pain and endometriosis.
She is President of the World Congress of Endometriosis, coming to Vancouver in May 2017.
