The D. A. Boyes Society, in honor, and memory, of Dr. David Alexander Boyes’ lifetime commitment to teaching and engagement announce two inaugral awards in his memory:
Community Teaching Award
This Award will be bestowed annually on a British Columbia or Yukon community which shows exceptional commitment toward Undergraduate and/or Resident education in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In addition to the public recognition of this distinction, the community receiving the Award will be eligible for a financial grant up to $5000, to be directed towards the sponsorship of a Visiting Lectureship and/or Mentorship by an expert of the community’s choice.
The recipient community will be selected by a panel consisting of the Directors of Undergraduate and Residency Education as well as members of DEX.
The first recipient of this award will be announced early in the new year.
Memorial Research Award
This is a grant competition designed to provide critical review, with rapid turn-around, and funding for proposals that would not be eligible to receive funding at the national level. Examples would be clinical projects without a basic science component, projects for which there is a hypothesis but no preliminary data, smaller circumscribed projects that are self-limited. This award is open to all learners within the Department. There will be up to two awards available for up to $5000.
The deadline for submission is 31 January 2018.
