We would like to congratulate Dr Dianne Miller, Division Head for Gynecologic Oncology, who recently received the 2015 Virginia Greene Leadership Award for her leadership in the field of ovarian cancer. This prestigious award, presented by Ovarian Cancer Canada, recognizes an individual’s outstanding contribution to the advancement of awareness, knowledge transfer, support, and research in ovarian cancer. The Virginia Greene Award was established by Virginia’s daughter, Justine, in memory of her mother who was a leading British Columbia business woman and ovarian cancer advocate. Virginia passed away from the disease in 2010.
This honor recognizes her work clinically and in translational research for which she is held in high regard nationally and internationally. In 2010, she launched the world’s first population-based ovarian cancer prevention program, recommending changes to clinical and surgical practice to prevent ovarian cancer.
