Dr. Teng is the newest member of the UBC Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is originally from Taiwan, but her family has travelled extensively and now currently resides in Surrey, BC.  She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at McGill University, followed by a Master of Public Health at Yale University.  She went on to obtain her Medical Degree and OB/GYN specialty training from the University of British Columbia. She earned the Dr. H.A. Henderson Memorial Medal for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2009 and was recently awarded the Robert M. Liston teaching award for medical student teaching.

She has a passion for research and has conducted clinical and health services research in cardiovascular health, infectious disease, and obstetrics and gynecology.  In May of 2012, Dr. Teng conducted a qualitative study on the role of embarrassment in HPV self-collection in Uganda.  She continues to be involved in global health and is dedicated to the health of women in Canada and around the world.

Dr. Teng is an enthusiastic and compassionate physician who strives to provide excellent and comprehensive care to her patients.  She believes that education, prevention, and empowerment are the keys to health.  Dr. Teng has an interest in minimally-invasive gynaecologic surgery, high-risk obstetrics, and family planning.

Dr. Teng provides family planning services at the CARE Program at BC Women’s hospital. In addition, she provides maternity care and gynaecologic services at St. Paul’s Hospital in downtown Vancouver.  She welcomes both English and Mandarin-speaking patients.
