Dr. Sarka Lisonkova, Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, is leading her research team in the study of “All-Cause and Cause-Specific Mortality and Acute Morbidity Attributable to COVID-19 and Medical History Associated with Severe COVID-19 Infection in BC“.
As one of the first 10 successful research teams that have been awarded the COVID-19 Research Response Fund from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR), Dr. Lisonkova and her team at the Children’s & Women’s Health Centre of BC (C&W) will examine the overall impact of the pandemic in BC to find out who is the most impacted by the virus, both directly and indirectly. They will also investigate the link between past medical history and severity of symptoms in individuals affected by Covid-19, and results are expected to help inform public health responses and provide guidance for the planning of future preventive efforts.
Big congratulations to Dr. Lisonkova and her team on being awarded this funding to help tackle important public health questions in Covid-19 research!
