Dr. Sarka Lisonkova honoured for highly cited research by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Sarka Lisonkova, Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, was honoured by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology for her highly cited research on preeclampsia.

Her paper (Lisonkova S, Joseph KS. Incidence of preeclampsia: risk factors and outcomes associated with early- versus late-onset disease. Am J Obstet Gynecol 2013 Dec;209(6):544.e1-544.e12. doi: 10.1016/j.ajog.2013.08.019) described the incidence and natural history of pre-eclampsia. Although clinicians have long understood that pre-eclampsia is a heterogeneous disease, Dr. Lisonkova’s study was the first to quantify the incidence of pre-eclampsia by treating gestational age as survival time.

In the 3 years since the study was published in December 2013, the paper has received over 150 citations on Google Scholar and is one of the 5 most highly cited Am J Obstet Gynecol papers published in 2013 according to Scopus.
