Pelvic Anatomy Clay Lab

The clay lab was a tremendous learning experience. It began with a didactic review of pelvic anatomy which laid the foundation for the subsequent hands on component. This introduction was particularly useful because it included relevant clinical correlates to variants in pelvic anatomy that provided context for our learning. Subsequently, we were put in pairs and given a bony pelvis with which to start our reconstruction of the important nerves and muscles of the pelvis. Using colour-coded clay pieces, we were led through the location and insertion points of each major muscle. This was very helpful to visualize both the insertion points and course of the important anatomy that we are likely to encounter during surgery in the pelvis.

A very interesting, useful, and fun exercise for learners of all levels!
