Sergiu Vlad completed his medical degree at Université de Sherbrooke and went on to pursue a residency in Obstetrics and gynecology at Université de Montréal. Early on, he developed a pronounced interest in Family planning and, through his research, advocated for improved access and use of mifepristone in Quebec for second and third trimester terminations. Recently board-certified, he decided to fly to the other side of the country to get advanced hands-on training in Family Planning at UBC so that he could bring back the expertise and contribute to the creation of a second advanced training program in complex contraception and abortion care in Canada.
