Clinical Proficiency

  •  Proficiency in the complex menopause care of people with or at risk for gynaecologic cancer, including the management of treatment-related or surgical premature menopause with special focus on the role of hormone and nonhormonal therapies as well as the prevention of long-term non-cancer chronic disease.
  • Expertise in the personalized care of people with gynaecologic cancer and an interdisciplinary approach to management of short and long-term treatment-related sequalae. This will include the physical and psychosocial needs of survivors in the domains of fatigue management, return to work, loss of fertility, sexual health as well as cognitive and mental health.
  • Robust clinical skills in genetic cancer risk assessment and counselling, especially patient care surrounding cancer surveillance and surgical and chemotherapeutic prevention in high-risk individuals
  • Knowledge in population-level and public health strategies to reduce rates of cervical, vulvar, endometrial and ovarian cancers in the population. This will include but is not limited to lifestyle, environmental, infectious causes, novel approaches to early detection as well as prevention including opportunistic salpingectomy for the prevention of ovarian cancer.

 

Research Expectations

  • Completion of one research project in the domains of gynaecologic cancer prevention and survivorship. Publication to be completed within 8 months of program completion.
