Application Procedure

The following documents are required:- Personal statement: Maximum one typed page indicating your interest in this subspecialty, goals and objectives, including career plans.
- Curriculum Vitae
- High quality scan of: medical degree, specialist certificate* *For applicants in their final year of training, please submit a letter from your Program Director that confirms your enrollment in the training program, and expected date of certification.
- Three (3) letters of reference: Must include a letter from the current residency program director. Please instruct your referees to submit letters of reference directly to the GREI Subspecialty Residency Program.
Canadian Applicants
Canadian applicants must have completed their Obstetrics and Gynecology training through a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) accredited program and be eligible to sit the RCPSC examinations in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
International Applicants
Please Note: We are not currently accepting applications from international residents.
International Residents please note that the following qualifications must be met for consideration:
- a. Enrolment in a Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited United States residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology and planning to complete certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
OR
b. International Medical Graduates must have received their training through RCPSC Jurisdiction Approved Training and must be eligible for RCPSC certification in obstetrics and gynecology and have received confirmation from the RCPSC that their training is substantially equivalent to Canadian training. - Meet the required scores set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia for English Proficiency.
- International applicants can be accepted only when they are endorsed by a sponsoring agency that has entered into a postgraduate training agreement with UBC. Charitable foundations, private corporations or self-funding are not considered acceptable sources of funding.
Please check the RCPSC webpage to find out if your training/degree meets Canadian/RCPSC certification. Individuals who do not meet the RCPSC certification standards will not be considered.
Please note: Canadian applications are considered first for Royal College-accredited subspecialty residency positions. International residents’ applications will be considered in years when a Canadian resident has not been selected.
