Biography
Dr. Gerald Marquette was appointed Medical Director, Maternal Services in July 2010 and has been involved with Perinatal Services BC since 2001 under its former program title. Dr. Gerald Marquette completed his Medical Degree at the University of Montreal in 1975. He then completed a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McGill University, in Montreal and completed his Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He returned to McGill University as an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the following 4 years. In 1987 he joined the Faculty of University of Montreal as an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and became an Associate Professor at University of Montreal in 1996. He was the Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at University of Montreal from 1993 to 2000. In September 2001, having relocated to Vancouver, BC, Dr. Marquette joined the Faculty at University of British Columbia at Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of British Columbia as a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He was the Site Head for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Children’s and Women’s Hospital of British Columbia from 2001 to 2007. Dr. Marquette has been involved at The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada from 1988 to 2011, as Head of the examination Board for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Head of the Specialty Committee. He has been involved in many research endeavours resulting in publications in Peer Review Journals and Scientific research abstracts accepted in Peer Review National and International Societies.
