Biography
Dr Timothy Rowe was Associate Professor, UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (the Department). He retired in 2019 and became emeritus in 2020. In 2004 Dr Rowe became Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada. Dr Rowe was former Division Head, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility of the Department, 2003 – 2013.
Dr. Rowe received his undergraduate medical training at the University of Adelaide. South Australia, and graduated in 1971. After residency training in various parts of Australia and Canada, and a research fellowship in reproductive medicine at the University of Sydney in Australia, he was appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dalhousie University in 1979. In 1981 he moved to Vancouver and since that time has been affiliated with the Department.
Dr Rowe was a member of the team responsible for Canada’s first IVF pregnancy in 1983, and was a faculty member of the Department’s Annual Workshops in Tubal Microsurgery. He is a member of the editorial board of four journals, and edited the reports from the Canadian Consensus Conferences on Endometriosis, Contraception, and on Menopause and Osteoporosis.
Dr Rowe has published over 150 journal articles and editorials, 11 book chapters, and co-authored the textbook Gynecology: A Practical Approach. He is a member of federal and provincial committees related to human reproductive therapy.
