Master Teachers Program

Fred Bryans Master Teacher Program

Master Teacher Program

The intent of the Fred Bryans Master Teacher Program is to create a network of outstanding community-based clinical teachers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Bryans, former Head of the UBC Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, was a renowned clinical teacher and wished to support excellent clinical teaching.

Facilitate or Participate in a Fred Bryans Master Teacher Cohort

In this program, you will explore how adults learn best in a variety of settings (office, operating room, classroom) and discuss practical strategies (i.e. task specific teaching, the one minute preceptor, chart stimulated recall, feedback pearls etc..) to teach when time is limited! There will be opportunities to discuss difficult teaching and learning scenarios (such as the “problem” learner) and other teaching activities (such as how to give an effective CME lecture) that are of interest to the participants.

The program is for community-based Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who are involved, and/or interested in being involved, in undergraduate & postgraduate clinical teaching within British Columbia.

The program is currently being administered by the Office for Faculty Development and Educational Support. Please visit the  program’s website

If you would like more information about participating in the program or perhaps even becoming a local facilitator of the program please send an email to: master.teacher@ubc.ca
