Curriculum

The Curriculum for this two-year program consists of:

Year 1

  • Ultrasound hands-on training/NT/amniocentesis training
  • Clinical MFM experience
  • Perinatal Pathology
  • Introduction to Research
  • Neonatolgy
  • Obstetric Medicine (core)
  • Obstetric Medicine/Ambulatory Clinics off site
  • Elective

Year 2

  • Fetal anomaly scanning/Fetal Echo/advanced procedure training
  • Clinical MFM experience (increased autonomy)
  • Medical Genetics
  • Research completion
  • Electives

The program provides a variety of educational events including; Hospital Rounds, Academic Half Day Seminars, Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy Service case reviews, Clinical MFM service case reviews and MFM Journal Clubs.

There is an opportunity for Fellows to initiate Masters level or Postdoctoral training in Public and Population Health, Reproductive and Developmental Sciences, or Education through the University of British Columbia.

Particular strengths of the program include hands-on ultrasound and procedure training, community MFM experience, a strong academic and research program, and an emphasis on education.
