This Advanced Training Program is a one year program where trainees will gain tools and experience in managing challenging surgical and clinical scenarios with a focus on Minimally Invasive Surgery. The program is offered to Canadian gynecologists with training within the Fraser Health Authority. There are 5 faculty with MIS Fellowship training throughout Canada. The trainee’s clinical time will be focused on surgical management of fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis and abnormal uterine bleeding. They will graduate with proficiency in laparoscopic procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, excision of deeply infiltrating endometriosis, abdominal cerclage, neosalpingsotomy, and hysteroscopic procedures, such as myomectomy, septoplasty and lysis of adhesions. Trainees will also participate in planned Cesarean Hysterectomy for Placenta Accreta Spectrum disorder as BC’s referral center for these cases is Royal Columbian Hospital. The trainee will become an experienced surgeon teacher by educating residents and medical students. In addition to clinical activities, there will be protected time for research and conferences.
